The Mechanism

How It Works

The Calming Band works through two things happening together.

1The Point

SP6, on the inner ankle, is a commonly used acupoint in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has also been explored in research on acupuncture and acupoint stimulation in relation to sleep and relaxation, which is part of why it remains a point of interest in modern wellness conversations.

2The Ritual

Putting the band on becomes a consistent, repeatable cue, the kind of signal your nervous system learns to associate with winding down. Twenty minutes, every evening, at the same point in your routine.

A Modern Way to Reach an Old Point

The Calming Band delivers a gentle, adjustable microcurrent pulse to SP6 through the skin, no needles, no clinic visit. It's a non-invasive, at-home way to bring a centuries-old point into your everyday evening routine.

Lunara Flow is a wellness product designed to support relaxation and general wellbeing. It is not a therapeutic or medical device. The Calming Band itself has not been clinically trialled, and individual experiences vary.

The 3am Connection

Falling asleep is only half the problem

Plenty of products focus on helping you drift off. Fewer focus on what happens a few hours later, when so many women find themselves wide awake again with no obvious trigger.

The Wind-Down vs. The Wired Hours

WIND-DOWN THE WIRED HOURS Wide awake… right on cue. Evening Wind-Down 20 minutes before bed A calmer overnight pattern What stress & hormones often do Before bed 12 AM 2–3 AM 4–5 AM Morning Through the Night Mental Alertness
Before bed

Your evening wind-down starts here

A repeatable, screen-free cue, 20 minutes before sleep.

2–3am

Alertness can spike and wake you up

Hormonal changes and stress can make your mind switch back into alert mode mid-sleep, even when nothing else has changed.

The Goal

A calmer overnight pattern

A steadier wind-down before bed is designed to carry that calm through the rest of the night.

1

Before bed, the ritual and SP6 work together

The repeatable wind-down cue calms a busy mind, while stimulating SP6 is traditionally associated with supporting a steadier nervous system response heading into sleep.

2

Overnight, that calm carries through

A calmer start to the night is designed to be part of a consistent ritual carried through the evening, not just the moment you fall asleep. Individual experiences vary.

About the Point

Why SP6?

A modern device built around one ancient point.

SP6 / Sanyinjiao

Where ancient practice meets modern study

SP6 sits on the inner ankle where three meridians meet. It's one of the most frequently used points in Traditional Chinese Medicine and one of the most widely studied acupoints in sleep research.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine

One of the most frequently used points for supporting rest, calm, and balance, used for centuries.

In Modern Research

Modern sleep researchers have continued to study SP6 because of its potential role in supporting sleep quality and deep sleep. A review of multiple clinical trials found SP6 stimulation was associated with improvements in sleep quality and measures of deep sleep.

Where It Sits

Four finger-widths above the inner ankle bone

  1. Locate the highest point of your inner ankle bone (your medial malleolus).
  2. Measure roughly four finger-widths upward from there, along the shin bone.
  3. SP6 sits in the soft tissue depression just behind the shin bone, between the bone and the surrounding muscle.

It's an easy point to find and reach consistently, which is part of why it has remained popular in acupressure and acupuncture practice for so long. The Calming Band is designed to sit directly over it.
